When I rode my bike on the Confederation Trail the other week, I passed the entrance of a local ski club trail. I’d seen it on satellite maps before but I wasn’t sure of it was open to the public. This week I found it was so I returned to the same spot and walked a loop through a pleasantly quiet forest.
It was still early in the morning with frost on the ground and patches of fog drifting across the farmland. The shot above shows the Confederation Trail near the ski trail crossing, and the next shot shows the trail map for the ‘Souris Striders Ski Club Trail’:
As you can see there are quite a few options to choose from when you set out. I started from the Confederation Trail over the red trail, then took the dark blue loop all the way around before returning to the beginning.
Just past the halfway point the sun came out for a brief moment, casting a soft light into the forest:
